ROESTI is an ethical hacking community event organized by Switch, aimed at boosting IT security within Swiss educational institutions. The acronym stands for "Reporting Open & Exploitable Security Threats and Issues."
Do I need to be experienced in ethical hacking to participate?
No, ROESTI is intended for students and university staff who already have a solid understanding of IT systems and are interested in security. However, students with less experience are also welcome to participate.
What do I need to bring to the event?
Each participant should bring their own personal computer and power adapter to the event. It would be preferable if already some "hacking" tools are pre-installed. A working Kali VM is a good place to start for example! If you want more information how to prepare better or what tools might be useful, feel free to contact us and we will hand out some more information.
I do not have a team yet. What should I do?
Don't worry! If you have not found other team members at the end of the registration we will try to pair you with other people at the event or merge teams together.
How does the registration process look like?
Participants first register on the official ROESTI event site and afterwards create an account on GObugfree with their edu-ID account.
Does the event cost something?
No, it's completely free for participants and universities.
Do I need to bring any food?
Food and beverages will be provided at the event, no need to bring anything. If you have any allergies let us know during registration and we will provide something for you.
Can I also participate remotely?
Sorry, remote participation is currently not possible.
